How I Relax & Unwind After a Long Day

Happy Friday! It has been a looonng day – scratch that – a long week!  I thought today would be a great time to share my go-to secrets for ultimate relaxation!

Take a Bubble Bath

After a long day, there are few things I look forward to more than taking a hot bath. It gives me a chance to ease my mind, even if only for ten minutes.  Sometimes I will listen to music, or I might prop up my iPad so I can watch Netflix or YouTube from the tub.  Other times, I just enjoy the silence.  I like to add in either Dr. Teal’s Bath Soak or Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Foam Bath for bubbles and a calming lavender scent.  If I have sore muscles, I will add in Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salts, otherwise I like to use a bath bomb.  My favorites are from Lush, Bath & Body Works, and Victoria’s Secret.

Put on Cozy Pajamas

After my bath, I smother my skin in a thick body cream to moisturize, and pick out my pajamas.  I have always been a lover of pajamas, and I truly look forward to putting them on at night. And yes – we’re talking flannel top and bottom sets! I am the most relaxed when I am warm and cozy.  It’s funny how simply changing clothes will put me in a better mood.

Have Some “Me Time”

Your “Me Time” might look different than mine, and that’s perfectly OK! Whether you like to cook, read, knit, or watch TV, indulging in something that’s solely for you will help distract your mind from the day’s earlier activities, and allow you to settle in for a chill evening.  I like to diffuse essential oils in the evening and before bed.  I’m new to the essential oils world, but so far my favorite blend for relaxation is combining a few drops of lavender & patchouli oils. Sometimes I like to do face masks and sip on a cup of herbal tea while I lounge out in front of the TV with Justin & Rudy.  Maybe pour yourself a glass of wine or snuggle up with your pup.  You may even find it soothing to end your day with prayer or meditation.

  1. Love it! When I was doing 80 Day Obsession Workouts I did a lot of Epsom soaks listening to Pandora (Frank Sinatra). Diffusing essential oils! Now that I am back into blogging with Supper Plate I tend to have a glass of Red wine enjoying reading lovely blogs like your own.
