Hello, and happy Monday! It feels SO good to sit down and write a blog post after a crazy couple weeks. I love reading all the holiday-themed posts that bloggers publish around this time, so I’m kicking off the week with my own little Christmas Q&A.
Enjoy!
Real or fake tree? For now, we only have a fake tree. It’s 6 ft., and probably cost less than $50 at Target 4 years ago. It is really about time we upgrade, but it wasn’t in the budget this year.
Favorite Christmas cookie? All of them? My mom is an amazing baker – everything she makes is good. I love these chocolate crinkle cookies that she makes. I don’t know if this is the recipe she uses, but it has to be pretty close. I also love chocolate dipped oreos, because this is the only time of year I get to indulge in them!
Home or travel for Christmas morning? For the past couple years, Christmas Day has been crazy busy. We go to my parents’ house & Justin’s parents’ house in the morning, then my Dad’s side of the family (Mom’s side is Christmas Eve), and then to Justin’s cousin’s for the the rest of the evening. It’s certainly a long (exhausting!) day of traveling. I am thinking our plans will change once we have a baby, and hopefully everyone can just come to us!
White or multi-color lights? Really, I like both. White lights are contemporary and clean-looking. But, multi-color lights remind me of my childhood.
Christmas cards? Yes, to sending and receiving! We sent out copies of the photo above. 50% off at Walgreens!
Favorite gift received and/or given? This year Justin renovated our office into my makeup room. He bought Ikea furniture and made a lighted mirror. It is most certainly my favorite gift, and now my favorite room in our house!
Stockings or no? Yes stockings are the best!
Christmas jammies? Hell yes! #JammiesAreMyLife. Growing up, my Great Grandma Casey always bought everyone a pair of pajamas for Christmas (She, herself, loved pajamas too!). My brother and I would open ours when we got home and wear them to bed, so my Mom could take photos of us in them the next morning as we opened our gifts from Santa. When Great Grandma Casey passed, my Grandma (her daughter) took over the tradition. They are always very good quality pajamas, and something I look forward to every year, even as an adult.
Favorite Christmas song? Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”, duh! And really, that whole album. Oh, and “Pennies From Heaven” from the ELF Soundtrack is super fun too. Shoo Bee Doo Bee!
Favorite holiday tradition? See pajamas story above. 🙂
Early shopper or last-minute? Early! Also – Justin and I are notorious for exchanging early. We’re talking like, December 1st early. We get so excited about what we bought each other, we can’t keep it a secret for long.
Favorite Christmas movie? #1 Favorite will always be The Santa Clause. As a kid, I practically studied this movie. I was convinced that was exactly what the North Pole was like. Of course I also love Elf, The Holiday, and every single movie on the Hallmark and Lifetime channels. My husband gets mad because we keep running out of space on the DVR.
Favorite holiday beverage? Good Champagne!
Cookies and milk for Santa? Absolutely, I always did this as a kid! Looking forward to carrying on the tradition when we have kids.
Love getting to know what everyone does around Christmas! 🙂
