Loving Lately, Vol. 2

I’m back! & Happy Wednesday!

Let’s get down to business, shall we? This week I am loving…

1.) IKEA

The husband and I have been planning on remodeling our office/my makeup room for some time now.  We finally decided that it would be my Christmas gift, since it’s something I’ve been wanting for a year and a half now since we moved into our home, and it is going to be a little pricy.  Currently on my half of the room, I have a bulky white desk which houses my computer, computer monitor, a desk lamp, books, and all things office-related. Next to that, I have a 9-cube organizer that is serving as a makeshift vanity, with all my makeup and beauty products stores in the bins. A really old pink painted mirror is sitting very carefully on the top of it, and I have a bulky, twice-reupholstered chair that I swing back and forth between the two.  On the other side of the room is Justin’s desk, (which he has never sat at since we moved in) that basically holds all my “overflow stuff” – which currently, is 5 pairs of boots.  🙂
The plan is to re-do my side with one fluid piece of furniture from Ikea.  It will be one or two of these Alex drawers with this Linnmon top across them, and one tall Alex drawer in the corner for added storage. We are leaning toward the brown/black color to match Justin’s desk on the opposite wall.  I already bought this mirror a while ago, but neglected to hang it, in hopes that my “vanity” would soon be upgraded.  The chair(s) & light scenario is TBD, but I’ve got my eye on this light and this stool, and hopefully two desk chairs that match.  We are planning on renovating our basement as well with some Ikea products, but they’re currently out of stock at our store so I’ll wait to report on that project.

2.) Ebates

You know you’ve seen the commercials, but in case you haven’t, Ebates is a free online shopping site that offers cash back for purchases.  I have been a member for about a year now, but it is especially beneficial around Christmastime.  I do ALL my shopping online (who has the patience time to shop at the mall??) and every little bit of savings helps! Just about every big retailer is on Ebates, my favorites being Gap, Old Navy & Target.  I downloaded the widget that keeps Ebates on my toolbar, and reminds me every time I am on a site that offers Ebates savings. Most retailers offer 1%-12% CASH BACK on purchases, but I’ve even seen up to 33%! They even search for coupons for you. It’s totally free to sign up, and they send you a check quarterly.  Seems too good to be true, but I promise you, it isn’t!

3.) IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream

I received a sample of the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream (4% Cash Back on Ebates – Holla!) in my Ipsy bag this month, and I AM OBSESSED with it.  It’s so lightweight on the skin, but with a Medium, Buildable coverage. It is SPF 50 and filled with good-for-you anti-aging ingredients.  It smells slightly citrusy (likely from all the Vitamin C packed inside), which I think is delightful. It can be applied with a brush, a beauty blender sponge, or your fingers, just as you would a moisturizer. Anything that’s going to cover up my blemishes, fill in my fine lines and wrinkles, prevent sun damage, brighten, hydrate and moisturize my face — SIGN ME UP.  I’m in the color medium.

Upon further research, apparently Physicians Formula OrganicWear CC cream is a dupe for the It Cosmetics (and 1/4 the cost!) so I picked one of those up to try in comparison.  Stay tuned for my thoughts!
Thanks for reading, and check back soon!
