We had our first prenatal appointment with my OB yesterday! They did urine & blood tests to confirm pregnancy. Since I was TWO days shy of 8 weeks (7 weeks 5 days) they wouldn’t do an ultrasound yet. I begged the doc, and she said the ultrasound technician had already left for the day or she would have let us take a peek. I had a little bleeding after a Cyclebar class last week which was very scary, so we were really looking forward to seeing the little blueberry on the screen to make ourselves feel more at ease. But alas, we will see the now, jelly bean, next week.
How far along: 8 weeks exactly, today! DUE DATE: AUGUST 29! 🙂
Gender prediction: Hoping for a girl, but it is much too early to make a prediction. Just a healthy baby, please!
Weight gain: Up about 5 lbs. total compared to pre-pregnancy, & pre-Holidays. Eating more carbs than I am normally used to, but they ease the nausea.
Maternity clothes: Browsing Gap & Old Navy’s websites. I definitely want a few cute maternity dresses for all the weddings, bridal & baby showers we have coming up in the next few months. Please feel free to leave suggestions for your fav maternity brands!
Sleep: I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT. Literally, I am SO exhaustingly tired, every second of every day. Workouts have been few & far between, and I have a basket of folded laundry that has been sitting in the same spot for 3 days now. I am so exhausted when I get home that I have been hopping straight into PJs and falling asleep on the couch by 8pm.
Best moment this week: Going to the doc. It’s finally feeling real! I also started shopping for a couple gender neutral items. Like
this sleeper in the navy stripes & polka dot patterns.
Worst moment this week: Everyone at my work is speculating that I’m pregnant and it’s beginning to drive me nuts. I have no idea what’s making them think that, but it’s simply too early to confirm & tell everyone.
Miss anything: Caffeine. I know I can have it in moderation, I just don’t want to be too dependent on it.
Movement: No
Cravings: Pasta. Garlic Bread. Bagels. All the carbs. Also chocolate, fruit, or fruit juice. Lately I’m loving
Simply Tropical.
Queasy or sick: Chipotle sounded SO good yesterday, but that was quickly ruined. I feel lucky that I haven’t felt nauseous much. Having little snacks on hand like Goldfish and granola bars and drinks with electrolytes I think are helping.
Looking forward to: Our first ultrasound next week! I can’t wait to meet our little bean and see (and hopefully hear!) it’s little tiny heartbeat.
Also worth mentioning: Justin pointed out that our dog, Rudy, has been laying on my stomach at night for the past couple weeks. Call us crazy, but we think he totally knows that there is something in there. Maybe he knew even before we did! 🙂
